Desktop management has long been an almost “taboo” subject in most businesses. As far as users are concerned the desktop or laptop is ‘theirs’, it is not ‘company kit’ fit to be managed by IT. Users can do with their PCs whatever they please, yet still expect to be rapidly supported by IT come what may. Do line of business managers finally recognise the need for desktops to be actively managed and is desktop virtualisation the answer to the IT managers PC support nightmares?….
